To address werepumpkins' question regarding the texture reference site I mentioned in the ImagineFX article- they don't really have any figurative reference there.
I get inspired by the flavor of old Elgreen and Vargas work, along with so much other great work being done lately- for specific projects I pretty much try and do things through blocking in shapes-and building things up naturally from there. If I get in a real pickle with and ankle or wrist turn here or there I will sometimes emlist the help of my wife to pose for a quick sketch or reference photo to get a better sense of the relationship between difficuly angles, perspectives or joints. There are some nice skin stexture references out the that can be use to give you some inspiration- There is a site called 3dsk.com (I think)
